WAXING QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Does it Hurt?
When waxing the first time, it hurts more than any other time. Why? When waxing regularly you are
removing less hair each time. Continued hair removal makes the root of the hair less resistant to
removal. If you wait until it is all grown in, it will be a virgin wax again.
Will the hair grow back thicker/stronger/darker?
Absolutely not. When shaving, hair is cut off at the thick part of the hair. That is why you feel stubble
the next day. Properly waxed hair is removed from the root. When growing back, the hair is new with a
very fine tip, so there is no stubble.
How often will I need it done?
On average - once a month. However, it takes a few times to get into the routine. It will take two or
three waxings for some hairs on the body to get onto the same growth pattern.
How long does the hair have to be?
The hair has to be as long as the root is deep. This will be around two - three weeks growth, or one
quarter of an inch. If it is not long enough, the wax cannot remove the hair properly, and some hairs will
remain.
What kinds of wax are used?
We use Cirepil, an internationally known depilatory wax from France. There are two types of waxes we
use. The first is a "soft wax" utilized with wax removing strips. The wax is ideal for waxing large areas of
the body, but is also used on the face and other areas. The second wax is a "hard wax". This wax
utilizes a scientific technique of polymers to "shrink wrap" the hair, creating less pull on the skin. The
inclusion of jojoba oil reduces potential skin irritation. Hard wax can be used on any pert of the body,
and is the perfect choice for sensitive skin.
What can I use to minimize hair regrowth?
The Epil Confort treatment from the Guinot skin care line is perfect to help slow regrowth. The Epil
Confort serum will also sooth the skin and reduce feelings of irritation after depilation and will moisturize
and refresh the skin.
How do I prevent ingrown hairs?
As hair grows back in, you may experience an ingrown hair. To prevent this from occurring, use an
exfoliant such as a salt scrub or a glycolic cream such as MD Formulation's Vita Plus Hand and Body
Lotion. These products help to exfoliate dead skin cells and free the way for new hairs to break through
the skin. The Epil Confort solution will also help prevent ingrown hairs.
Will prescription products I use on my face affect my waxing service?
If you are using any products with accutun, Rettin A, or any other Retinold Gylcolic - based products be
sure to consult with your physician before waxing.
What should I not do after waxing?
For 12 hours: no hot baths, no abrasives, no deodorant.
For 24 hours: no sun or heavy sweating.
